I might be dating myself but does anyone remember the Burger King slogan – “Have it your way?”

Burger King was the first Fast Food Restaurant to offer custom food orders. Extra pickles – no problem, double cheese, and extra onions again no problem. Meanwhile, McDonald’s and Burger Chef were working on speed by pre-making their burgers and then putting them under a heat lamp. Yuck! Burger King even had a cute jingle that was easy to remember. “Hold the pickle, Hold the lettuce – Special orders don’t upset us – all we ask is that you let us serve it your way.”

That slogan lasted 40 years until 2014 when BK changed it to “Be Your Way”! “Be Your Way”? Really? Here we are in 2019, five years after the new campaign started – no song, no fan-fair – nothing! It seems Burger King lost big on the new “Be Your Way” slogan. Hmmm, curious how much that cost them?

So now to my question – “what good is a slogan if no one knows it”? Something like “if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”

Are you being heard? Do you have choices? Does your life make a sound that is recognizable? Do other people sing your jingles? They should.

We have the opportunity each day to “Have it Our Way.” Just like ordering at Burger King – we make each day our day. We can hold problems or double them. We can smile or add an extra frown. Our choice our day. Order it your way then go with it. Own it.

If it doesn’t work then change it. Don’t keep placing the same order and complain that you have double pickles. “Be Your Way”
